Venezuelans on Trump ending TPS as Florida’s immigration crackdown continues | Facing South Florida

In this week’s edition of Facing South Florida:

CBS News Miami’s Jim DeFede talks to Venezuelan-American activist and lawyer Maria Corina Vegas after President Donald Trump decides to end temporary protective status for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans. Venezuelans in South Florida had been told they had nothing to fear by Florida Republicans, including Carlos Gimenez, Mario Diaz-Balart, Maria Elvira Salazar, and Marco Rubio. Still, they now realize they were lied to by the same politicians they trusted. Jim and his guest discuss that and the president’s decision.

It looks like there could be a breakthrough in the immigration negotiations between the Florida legislature and Governor Ron DeSantis. Jim talks to Republican State Senator Blaise Ingoglia, who has been involved in the battle from the beginning, about that and the possibility of yet another special session on immigration.

Guests: Maria Corina Vegas/Venezuelan-American Activist
