Terrorist threats are growing worldwide, so learning how to recognize telltale terrorist behaviors is of growing importance. With that goal in mind, the Miami Police Department’s specialized SHIELD division hosts civilian training sessions for Miami residents, students and organizations, including Active Shooter Training, Facility Threat Assessments and – most recently – a Terrorism Awareness Program.
This newest civilian-oriented training curriculum informs residents about the specific signs and observations that can signal an impending terrorist attack. To bring these signs of potential terrorist activity to life for civilians, the City of Miami’s Office of Communications partnered with SHIELD to create ‘Eight Signs of Terrorism’, an informational video and training tool used during the Miami Shield Police Terrorism Awareness Program.
