A man was thrown overboard from his boat near the Ringling Museum on Monday, leaving the vessel circling out of control at 40 mph! Despite several rescue attempts, it wasn’t until Sea Tow slowed it down with a special tow line that a Sarasota police officer could jump aboard and stop it.
The operator, who wasn’t wearing a life jacket or using the engine cut-off switch, was tossed after a larger boat crossed his path. Thankfully, he only suffered minor injuries.
Stay safe out there, boaters! Life jackets and safety switches save lives.
