Firefighters battled a blaze at a Miami Beach high-rise Tuesday afternoon that began as a dumpster fire.
Crews responded to the Executive condominium building, located at 4925 Collins Ave., just after 12:45 p.m., according to dispatch records.
The Mid-Beach tower was built in 1959 and contains more than 100 units, according to real estate websites.
Video from Sky 10 shows that the fire spread all the way up the side of the 12-story building. The video showed firefighters zeroed in on two dumpsters outside.
“The building is currently undergoing a roof renovation,” a spokesperson for Miami Beach Fire Rescue said in an email. “During the process, a hot object fell down the chute creating the dumpster fire. Because the dumpster is plastic, it caused charring on the exterior side of the building.”
A portion of Collins Avenue was closed as firefighters worked the scene.
