Florida man covered in soot and ash accused of arson, dogs injured in process

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested a 47-year-old man for arson on Sunday morning following a house fire in the Brooklyn neighborhood.

Officers quickly apprehended William Baker near the burning home after multiple witnesses provided matching descriptions. An officer spotted Baker walking away from the fire, covered in soot and ash.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue crews promptly contained and extinguished the flames. After interviewing neighbors and reviewing surveillance video, JSO determined there was probable cause to arrest Baker for arson.
